BACHELORS IN EDUCATION (B. Ed)

About B.Ed Programme Presently, two years B.Ed programme is offered by Government College of Education, Jammu and students are admitted in B.Ed Programme/Course through entrance examination conducted every year by Jammu Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examination (JKBOPEE) and intake capacity of the B.Ed programme is 200. The main purpose of this programme is to develop the understanding and competencies required by practicing teachers for effective teaching and learning process at different stages of Education especially from primary stage to secondary stage. This two year B.Ed Programme also provides opportunities of sharing experiences gained by pupil teacher/practicing teacher in different educational institutions. In fact, this course enable us to produce skilled and reflective practioners. This course has been designed for those aspirants who are interested to pursue carrier in teaching and other allied fields. From primary level to secondary level of education in our country, B.Ed degree is the basic requirement , so one who desires to be teachers should go for this course of study. In order to become effective and successful teacher, educand should show his interest for joining this two year B.Ed course. Any bachelor degree pursued student can join this course after qualifying entrance examination i.e to be conducted by JKBOPEE. Generally, B.Ed programme focuses on improvement of skills of teaching and that is required for effective teaching at all levels of education. This course also inculcates the urge for teaching learning process and enable the pupil teacher “ What to Teach, How to Teach and Where to Teach”. After the completion of B.Ed course, the pupil teacher will be able to follow varied teaching strategies like differentiated instructions, cooperative learning, utilizing tactics to teaching and technology in actual classroom situation. With this B.Ed degree, the candidates can work in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Army Schools and Education consultancies. Not only this, the candidates can also get government teacher job through CTET and other examinations conducted through different agencies. This degree is also basic requirement to appear in Central Teacher Eligibility Test. After qualifying CTET, candidate can get job as primary and secondary teacher at central level in India.
