Department of Education is one of the premier and major department in the Government College of
Education Jammu, established in the year 1954 since inception of college.Under the umbrella of
education the college is running teacher education programs i.e B.Ed and M.Edof 2 years duration
spread into 4 semesters . The main aim of the department development is to provide quality based
education to the future teachers by developing their wisdom besides , knowledge.
WHY’S :-
1.An efficient teacher in his /her area of specialization with the help of different pedagogical skills.
2.A great educationist,a good administrator and effective educational planner by providing a comprehensive overview of the foundational disciplines of philosophy, sociology, psychology and detailed study of chosen specialised areas of interest like educational technology,special education,
guidance and counselling ,information nd communication technology etc.
3.Empower prospective teachers to take leadership, ownership and responsibility for their present and future learning by developing interpersonal,Intrapersonal and technological skills.
4. Provide quality practical teaching experience, school internship and a unique chance to share and develop critical thinking needed to meet professional challenges and community needs.
5 . Enable students to explore areas of research in the field of education by conducting Action Research projects at B.Edlevel and dissertation work at M.Ed level.
