Department of Psychology is headed by Dr. Ambica Kumari. In Bachelor Degree of Education, Psychology plays an applied part i.e. Educational Psychology. The department is equipped with laboratory facilities, internet access, and availability of reference books in the library. For psychological testing, various psychological tests and equipment are available in the lab.
The subject is taught under different course headings such as Educational Psychology, Basics of Psychology, Elementary Statistics, Personality Development, etc. Besides academics, Mandodarpan activities are conducted regularly under different cells such as Psychological Counselling Cell, Career Counselling Cell and Placement Cell.
The main objective of the counselling cell is to provide quality counselling to the young generation of students about their psychological health and career prospects. The department has also started a De-Addiction Awareness Committee to orient students about the menace of substance abuse and drug dependence.
The department also provides psychological tests and guidance to M.Ed. and B.Ed. students in their research work. It organizes various guest lectures, poster competitions, essay writing competitions and panel discussions to promote psychological well-being of prospective teachers. Faculty members also conduct sessions of individual and group counselling.
